Research Only Matters if the Results are Used

The women who participated in Right From the Start trusted the research team to use the information we gathered to learn more about conception and pregnancy health and to share that information. We’ve made the video links and images below available for downloads so you can share what you find useful, concerning, intriguing, or even controversial. Please credit Right from the Start (or tag us in social media) as you use this content. The list of study publications includes links if you wish to link to publicly available sources for the original science.

Our team values opportunities to develop health education and outreach materials with other women’s health groups, professional organizations, and state and national agencies who seek to protect the health of women, their pregnancies, and their families.

Time of Pregnancy Testing Aligns with Timing of Change in Alcohol Use

Scientific Publication:  April, 2017

This is a figure from the scientific publication cited below. The solid line presents when in pregnancy the women in the study reported they first had a positive pregnancy tests. The dotted line show when the women in the study separately reported that they changed their use of alcohol. This shows that change in drinking is closely associated in time with confirming a pregnancy.
